The County Jail is operated by the Sheriff and his Deputies. The Sheriff
provides many services in the jail through various employees: Canteen (inmate
store), Jail Nurse to keep hospital visits at a minimum thus reducing costs,
substance abuse programs to keep inmates from re-offending, and transportation
of inmates between other correctional facilities.
Jail gets a 100% in State Inspection
What does this mean? The jail is a very complex operation. The
Sheriff works closely with the Captain of the jail to provide the support and
the level of accountability to the highest it has ever been. Inmates are held
accountable for day to day activities while in jail. If the activities are not
done then sanctions are enforced to correct the deficiency. Deputies working in
the jail are held to an ever increasing level of professionalism. Deputies exude
enthusiasm when doing their jobs and dealing with day to day operations of the
county jail and it shows. The scrutiny that the inspection presents is
strict-121 Standards are needed to receive a 100%. This ensures a safe
environment for the inmates to reduce liability and decreases the chance of
staff injuries and escapes. Everything from inmate food preparation to booking
procedures are checked. The Jail is very proud of this exemplary inspection.
